CT GOP WILL PUSH FOR SIGNIFICANT RELIEF AT THE PUMP, INCOME AND PROPERTY TAX RELIEF, ELIMINATION OF THE PUBLIC BENEFITS CHARGE AND LOWER HEALTH INSURANCE PREMIUMS

The following information was released by the Connecticut State Senate Republicans:

Connecticut Senate and House Republicans today pledged to press for measures which will provide significant annual relief for overburdened state residents and create 'A More Affordable Connecticut'.

"Democrats have made life in Connecticut unaffordable," Senate Republican Leader Stephen Harding said. "If you send more Republicans to the State Capitol, we will deliver lower income taxes, lower property taxes, lower health insurance premiums, lower electricity bills, lower grocery bills and relief at the gas pump. This is our pledge to you: Republicans will create 'A More Affordable Connecticut'."

Affordability has become a buzzword for the Democrats we serve alongside, and they've spent the summer pointing fingers at Washington instead of looking in the mirror. Connecticut didn't become one of the most expensive states in the country the day President Trump took office. It got that way over years of decisions made in this building, by the people and party that have controlled it, House Republican Leader Vincent Candelora said. Affordability is a choice. Democrats keep making the wrong one, reaching for another tax or another program instead of policies that actually lower costs. We're offering these ideas again, and they'll be at the top of our agenda in the next session.

Harding and Candelora said Connecticut Republicans will seek to return money back to taxpayers in the following ways:

Income tax reductions beginning on January 1, 2028

Eliminate the Highway Use Tax on July 1, 2027

Eliminate Sales Tax on Meals sold at Grocery Stores

Implement a One Year Gas Tax Holiday beginning on July 1, 2027

Incentivize Municipalities to Offer Homestead Exemptions

Implement Association Health Plans in order to reduce insurance premiums by 15% to 30%

Eliminate the Public Benefits Charge on electricity bills

"The choice between Democrats and Republicans is clear," Harding and Candelora said. "Republicans want to save you a significant amount of money. Democrats don't. Send more Republicans to Hartford."
