Copart Announces Purchase of Its 14th Location in Florida

PR Newswire

DALLAS, March 7, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Copart, Inc. (NASDAQ: CPRT), a global online vehicle auction company, is proud to announce the addition of its Okeechobee, Florida location. This facility is strategically located between Orlando, Tampa and Miami, and it will serve as a standby location specifically for catastrophic events. Over the past year, Copart responded to catastrophic flooding in Baton Rouge and Houston, hailstorms in Colorado Springs and Dallas, and Hurricane Matthew, which affected much of the East Coast.

"We have years of experience responding to catastrophes, and time and again, we have helped our customers to minimize the impact of each event. By far, the most challenging aspect of serving our customers and the community during a catastrophe is satisfying the need for more land to store the sometimes huge influx of volume," said Jay Adair, CEO of Copart. "With this new location in Okeechobee, we are better prepared than ever for the severe weather events that could be on the horizon."

In addition to leveraging its extensive investment in property, Copart achieves operational excellence during times of need with its Catastrophe Response Team (CAT Team), a group of elite employees who are ready and willing to respond to weather-related catastrophes at a moment's notice.

"When Hurricane Matthew hit the East Coast last year, we activated reserve land in two states and expanded existing locations in three states virtually overnight," said Adair. "We are pleased to increase our level of preparedness with this land in Okeechobee."

This standby location in Okeechobee follows Copart's announcement, in January, of opening its 13th Florida location. In 2017, Copart has also opened locations in Casper, Wyoming and Denver, Colorado, along with the expansion of existing locations in San Jose, Chicago, San Diego, and Springfield, Missouri.

As a proud community partner, Copart also offers law enforcement, fire departments and similar government agencies a safe training environment. Copart locations are also used by agencies as a controlled environment to train K-9s to track narcotics and explosive devices. Agencies are encouraged to contact their local Copart location to learn more about conducting training at Copart. In addition to supporting local agencies, Copart supports numerous local, regional and national charities. To learn more about Copart in your community and nationwide, please visit TeamCopart.com.
