Consumers face another slump

The Federal Reserve– which held its last meetings June 17 and June 18– declined to cut short-term rates. University of Michigan economic forecaster Daniil Manaenkov told the Detroit Free Press, part of the USA TODAY Network, that the University of Michigan's forecast in May initially had expected the first rate cut to come at the Fed's July 29- July 30 meeting.
