CONGRESSWOMAN MATSUI STATEMENT ON TRUMP ADMINISTRATION’S MOVE TO REVISIT FUEL EFFICIENCY STANDARDS

Washington, D.C. - Today, Congresswoman Doris Matsui (D-CA) issued the following statement after the Trump Administration announced it would reopen midterm review of the Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards, which was finalized under the Obama Administration:

"This first step in rolling back fuel efficiency standards is dangerous to public health. These standards are saving consumers money at the pump, while reducing carbon pollution and making our air cleaner to breathe. California has the unique ability to set more stringent standards and has been a leader when it comes to promoting fuel efficiency. We will remain steadfast in our work to protect consumers and promote innovation in the automotive sector."
