DENVER (January 4, 2024) – The Financial Planning Association announced that Claudia Cypher Kane, CFP®, CIMA®, CPWA®, ADPA®, CDFA®, officially became the 2024 FPA President effective January 1. Kane will collaborate with other national volunteer leaders and the Association’s CEO to advance FPA’s strategic priorities and elevate the Association as a leader of the profession.
“FPA has been an influential force in my career by providing me with a community of professionals who are eager to share best practices and experiences that have shaped my practice of financial planning,” said 2024 FPA President Claudia Cypher Kane, CFP®, CIMA®, CPWA®, ADPA®, CDFA®. “I’m eager to work to support the Association’s mission and vision while providing our Members and chapters with an indispensable experience that will support them in their careers and businesses.”
A financial adviser since 1985, Kane is an independent adviser with Raymond James Financial Services in Roseville, Calif., where she provides financial planning, strategic asset allocation, and tax-efficient money management for individuals, fiduciaries, and small businesses. Kane completed a four-year FPA Board of Directors term in December 2023. She also served as the 2022 FPA Treasurer and volunteer leader of the FPA Finance Committee.
Besides her service on the FPA Board of Directors, Kane volunteered her time to help lead the FPA of Northern California chapter and FPA of California, a coalition of FPA chapters throughout the state. She has also served in various volunteer roles and on numerous national FPA committees. She has been involved in exam writing for the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards (CFP Board) and the Investments and Wealth Institute (IWI). She is an active member of IWI and previously served on their Board of Directors. Kane has also served in various community leadership positions, including as President of Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of El Dorado County in California.
Kane earned a bachelor's degree from Queen's University, Belfast, Northern Ireland, and studied at the Wharton School and the Booth School to earn her CIMA® and CPWA® credentials. Besides being a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional, she holds the Certified Private Wealth Advisor (CPWA®), Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA®), Accredited Domestic Partnership Advisor (ADPA®), and Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA®) designations.
"Financial planning is truly a helping profession, and those who have committed their professional lives to financial planning believe strongly in service — service to their clients and service to those in society who don't typically have access to the knowledge and skill that financial planners provide. I hope to use this platform over the next year to encourage more financial planners to engage in service to others, whether through volunteer leadership, engaging in pro bono financial planning, or building the financial wellness of underserved communities," added Kane.
