Cincinnati Children's Names Leaders for Accountable Care Organization

Targeted News Service (Press Releases)

CINCINNATI, Ohio, Oct. 11 (TNSper) -- The Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center issued the following news release:

Cincinnati Children's has promoted two individuals, Jeff Anderson, MD, and Kim Kaas, who lead the medical center's HealthVine accountable care organization. HealthVine currently coordinates care and support services for 120,000 kids in Southwest Ohio who are insured by Medicaid.

Anderson, a pediatric cardiologist, was promoted to senior vice president and appointed to the newly established position of Chief Population Health Officer at Cincinnati Children's. He had been vice president for external medical affairs since 2019.

Kaas was promoted to vice president for Operations-Population Health. She had been assistant vice president of operations for external medical affairs since 2019.

"Kim and Jeff have spent the last three years bringing together teams that have developed innovative solutions to improve population outcomes for thousands of children in our communities," said Evaline Alessandrini, MD, chief operating officer of Cincinnati Children's. "We know they will continue to demonstrate outstanding leadership as we bring our population health strategy to even more children."

HealthVine launched in 2021 as a contract with Dayton-based CareSource, Ohio's largest managed care organization. That led to the creation of Cincinnati Children's HealthVine LLC, a Pediatric Accountable Care Organization.

HealthVine, a network of pediatric care providers and organizations backed by Cincinnati Children's, provides care management, quality improvement and utilization management for all children with CareSource Medicaid insurance in the eight southwest counties in Ohio.

"We have set our sights on ensuring that the region's children are the healthiest in the nation and that Cincinnati Children's is a leader in pediatric population health," Anderson said. "By coordinating community resources on behalf of patients and families, we are re-imagining how we deliver high-quality care to more kids in our region so they can have the best outcomes, experience and value."

Kaas noted that HealthVine's mission is to coordinate care and support services so children can thrive by living their healthiest lives.

"In the coming months and years, the HealthVine team expects to expand the influence we have on pediatric care and outcomes in our region," Kaas said. "HealthVine's broad influence includes work with families, payors, community benefit organizations, primary care clinics (both Cincinnati Children's Primary Care and community primary care), schools and subspecialists at Cincinnati Children's, as well as local adult hospital systems that care for pediatric patients and our long-standing Provider Hospital Organization, Tri-State Child Health Services."

Kaas is a graduate of Mount St. Joseph University in Delhi Township, where she earned a bachelor's degree in computer information systems with a concentration in management as well as a master's in business administration. She joined Cincinnati Children's in 2012.

Anderson is a graduate of the University of Utah, where he earned a bachelor's in psychology, a master's in public health, and a medical degree. After serving as chief pediatrics resident at University of North Carolina Children's Hospital, Anderson joined Cincinnati Children's in 2006 as a fellow in pediatric cardiology. He has been a staff cardiologist and electrophysiologist at Cincinnati Children's since 2009. Anderson earned a master's in business administration from the University of Michigan's Ross School of Business in 2014.
