Chase ends in crash, one suspect on the loose

San Angelo Standard-Times (TX)

Jan. 26--SAN ANGELO -- A high-speed chase in San Angelo Thursday morning ended with a car crashing into a building and two arrests.

Authorities are looking for a third suspect following the chase that ended with the driver crashing into All Vac Center, 1524 W. Beauregard Ave, at the intersection of West Beauregard Avenue and South Monroe.

The driver of a stolen Chrysler 200 led law enforcement -- including the Texas Department of Public Safety, San Angelo police and Tom Green County Sheriff's Office deputies -- on a chase through residential neighborhoods for more than 10 minutes, said Lt. Christina Lopez with the sheriff's office said.

The pursuit ended at 8:08 a.m. with the driver crashing into the side of the vacuum store.

Two men and a woman jumped out of the car and ran on foot after the crash, Lopez said. Authorities nabbed one of the men, who was taken to the Tom Green County Jail, and the woman was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital with minor injuries, Lopez said.

A deputy conducted a traffic stop for speeding and pulled the Chrysler over at North Van Buren Street and Greenwood Street before the pursuit, at about 7:65 a.m., Lopez said.
