Cause of massive fire at Strathmore Mill in Russell suspicious: Reward offered
RUSSELL – The cause of a fire in a vacant mill that burned for more than 12 hours is suspicious and investigators are offering a reward for information that helps identify the person or people who set it.

Anyone with information about the fire is asked to call the Arson Hotline at 800-682-9229. All calls are confidential. Investigators are also interested in seeing any relevant video or photos, she said.

Fighting the massive fire was further complicated by the fact firefighters had to truck in water to try to douse flames.
The plant shut down about 20 years ago and the town sold it at auction last year after members of the Select Board said they were concerned about the liability of owning such a large, vacant building.
