Candidate forum sees heated exchange from Brindisi, Tenney

Following Robert's Rules of Order for forums and debates, each candidate in the

Things got heated at times, with each candidate exchanging barbs and Tenney asking at one point if she could interrupt Brindisi's two-minute answer to explain why he was wrong.
A number of students from area high schools were among those in attendance at the forum, including a group from
If Gordon could vote in the November election, he said he would vote for Brindisi because of his education policy and approach to health insurance.

"In this modern age, everyone is more into politics," Wright said. "I've been seeing it on the news, so it got me interested in what they said and what their views were. ... I'm starting to pay attention more and more, especially when the presidential (election) came on; that's when everyone started going around social media and that's what I started to get more interested in politics."
The audience also included local residents, such as
Flisnik said she came to the event undecided but now knows who to vote for, which encourages her to support having more community events.
"They both were very respectful of each other, very informative ...," she said. "They didn't really slander each other too much, but that's kind of how it goes."

Tenney: "I think the president is taking a bold stand; he's certainly changed the conversation on trade. We have a few companies right in our community who are very excited about the trade. ... Some of the tariffs I know have been a tough thing; it's been harder on a lot of our farmers out in the Midwest. The president understands that, but he's trying to do a basic thing: He's trying to bring our jobs back.
