Canadian Red Cross Set to End Registration for Financial Support Program – New Brunswick Ice Storm

OTTAWA, Canada, Feb. 16 -- The Canadian Red Cross issued the following news release:

The Canadian Red Cross will stop accepting new applications at the end of this week for emergency financial aid to those most severely impacted financially by the January 24-25, 2017 ice storm and related power outages in New Brunswick.

Friday, February 17, is the deadline for those with urgent financial needs resulting from the storm and outages and who have not registered or been assessed for aid eligibility to contact the Red Cross toll-free 1-888-893-1300, or in person at the Inkerman Community Centre, between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. (Atlantic time).

The assistance is intended to help those with low income cope with storm and power outage-related losses not covered by insurance, the province's Disaster Financial Assistance program or other support programs.
