BRIEF: WEA Trust buys Health Tradition Health Plan

May 22--Madison-based WEA Trust has purchased Health Tradition Health Plan, an HMO owned by Mayo Clinic Health System.

The move will allow WEA Insurance Corp. to serve the private sector through Health Tradition and continue serving the public sector through WEA Trust, the companies said Tuesday.

The purchase will also help ensure that multiple health insurance options are available in western and southwestern Wisconsin, the companies said.

Health Tradition was set to close due to the challenges of maintaining a small plan with uncertainty in the health care and insurance environment.
