BRIEF: Two arrested after vehicle chase with North Augusta, Richmond County police

Jan. 03--A man has been arrested and charged after leading deputies on a chase through Aiken and Richmond counties late Tuesday night.
Craig Allen Redd, 24, of North Augusta, was arrested Tuesday night and charged with driving under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, seat belt violation, driving with a suspended license, no proof of insurance, theft by receiving and fleeing and eluding.
Katie Leigh Hoots, 24, of Trenton, S.C., one of the two women who was found in the vehicle with Redd, was also arrested for an outstanding warrant from Columbia County Sheriff's Office.
Richmond County sheriff's deputies responded to the call at 11:55 p.m. after the suspect allegedly stole a vehicle and failed to stop for North Augusta officers, according to a news release.
The pursuit ended after the suspect crashed the vehicle at the intersection of Milledge and Pickens roads and fled on foot, the news release states.
Redd was found and identified by North Augusta Public Safety as the driver of the vehicle after he attempted to hide in a trash bin, according to the news release.
He is being held at the Charles B. Webster Detention Center.
