BRIEF: Trial scheduled to start in hit-and-run case
Greenville Herald-Banner (TX)
Feb. 04--Trial is scheduled next week for a local woman, indicted on a charge alleging she drove away from an accident last summer which left one person injured.
Dorothy Gonzalez, 45, of Greenville, has pleaded not guilty to one count of failure to stop and render aid.
Jury selection is scheduled Monday.
The Hunt County grand jury issued the indictment in September, alleging that on July, 11, 2016 Gonzalez left the scene of a motor vehicle accident in which she was involved, during which a male victim was hurt, without leaving her identification or proof of insurance.
The Hunt County District Attorney's Office has issued seven subpoenas for witnesses to testify in the case and is seeking the court's permission to introduce evidence of extraneous offenses committed by Gonzalez, who records indicated was charged with misdemeanor theft offenses in Kaufman and Rockwall counties in 2014.
