BRIEF: Michael Foods building sustained about $2.5M in damage

May 26--KLINGERSTOWN -- Fire damaged a building at Michael Foods Inc. Thursday night.

Firefighters from Schuylkill and Dauphin counties were called to the facility at 68 Spain Road around 8:45 p.m.

Lisa Hanly, corporate director of communications for Michael Foods Inc. confirmed Friday that a fire occurred at the egg processing facility in Upper Mahantongo Township.

Hanly would only confirm that fire broke out in duct work used by one of the ovens inside the facility and that no injuries were reported.

She said the company is investigating the fire and that it would provide additional information after the investigation is complete.

A statement from Michael Foods stated that damages are estimated at $2.5 million and it is covered by insurance.

Firefighters responding were from Klingerstown and Sacramento in Schuylkill County and Berrysburg, Lykens, Gratz, Pillow, Elizabethville, Dalmatia and Wiconisco in Dauphin County.
