BRIEF: Geico looking to hire more than 500 people in Virginia Beach

Geico says it plans to hire more than 500 people for its Virginia Beach regional hub through the end of 2017.

The company has been ramping up its property insurance division, and the Virginia Beach office is one of three nationwide to handle sales and service for the new accounts, said Cyrielle Doup, Geico's regional hiring supervisor. The others are in Fredericksburg, Va., and Buffalo, N.Y.

She said the 527 sales, service and claims positions start at $30,000 with bonus opportunities for salespeople. The company has also said it is hiring for multiple management fast-track positions in Virginia Beach and auto damage workers across Virginia and in parts of North Carolina.
