BRIEF: Dominick Ianno, a top Baker administration aide and GOP operative, heads to MassMutual

Oct. 05--Dominick Ianno, a top Baker administration aide and longtime GOP operative, is heading to MassMutual.

MassMutual, short for Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company, tapped Ianno to head up its state government relations team.

Ianno, a Walpole resident, leaves his job this week as senior adviser to Michael Heffernan, Gov. Charlie Baker's budget chief. He starts at MassMutual later this month.

MassMutual, a Fortune 100 mutual life insurance company, is headquartered in Springfield and has plans to expand in Boston. Ianno will be working at one of the Boston area offices the company already has in place.

Ianno has served five Massachusetts governors and before joining the Baker administration in January 2015 worked for seven years as director of public affairs at Pfizer, Inc. Aside from Baker, he worked for William Weld, Paul Cellucci, and Mitt Romney during their time in the Corner Office.

He also worked as vice president at Gray Media, a public affairs firm in Boston, and the executive director of the Massachusetts Republican Party.

He is a graduate of State of University of New York, College at Oswego and New England Law -- Boston.
