Feb. 06--CLINTON -- A Clinton County jury has found a Clinton woman accused of arson not guilty.
Jaclyn Bentley, 37, was found not guilty Friday of first-degree arson and insurance fraud. The jury returned the verdict in less than one day of deliberations.
The trial lasted a week, with the state painting a case of Bentley setting fire to her residence at 706 Fifth Ave. South to collect insurance money. However, the defense, utilizing Bentley on the stand later in the trial, said she couldn't have set the fire to her home since she was camping at a McCausland campsite.
