Bowlers raise funds for hospice

April 18-- Apr. 18--HILLSDALE -- At the age of 91, Glen Foust, is one of Hillsdale County Hospice's longest supporters.

Saturday morning he was one of 53 bowlers that took part in the 25th Annual Bowl-A-Thon for Hillsdale County Hospice at Hillsdale Lanes.

Foust who bowls weekly in a league at Hillsdale Lanes has taken part in the fundraiser since its beginning. On Saturday he was the top fundraiser raising $500.

"It has been a lot of fun," he said. "It is for a good cause."

This year's fundraiser, which saw 12 teams take part raised over $4,000 for hospice's music therapy service.

Hospice Director Kitty Aemisegger, said this year's turnout was larger than normal.

"The hospice staff has really turned out," she said. "We had a good outpouring from the community."

Currently 14 out of 35 hospice patients are receiving music therapy with Erin Brewer, music therapist.

Aemisegger said in an earlier article that the music therapy program is a wonderful service and that is available any time during hospice stay.

Brewer lives in Quincy and has worked with those in Branch, Calhoun and Washtenaw counties as well. She did 22,000 visits for Hillsdale County Hospice last year.
