BOSTON FED ANNOUNCES FORMATION OF NEW PAYMENTS ADVISORY COUNCIL

Council members will provide insights on issues affecting the U.S. payments system

The Federal Reserve Bank of Boston today announced the formation of the First Districts Payments Advisory Council. The council, made up of bankers and payments system leaders from across New England, will share industry insights and data to strengthen the Boston Feds understanding of payment issues.

It will also inform related policy considerations and decision-making and provide members with opportunities to learn about the Federal Reserves financial and payment services.

This council will contribute invaluable insight on the U.S. payments system as it continues to evolve by drawing on the expertise, innovation, and perspectives of leaders in New Englands financial and technology sectors, said Boston Fed First Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Karen Pennell.

Our region has an historic and important role in advancing payments, Pennell added. Im really looking forward to learning from our members as we work together to support a fast, safe, and reliable system that meets the publics needs.

Members include officials from leading New England financial institutions and nonbank entities who have demonstrated a strong interest in helping shape the future of the payments system. They serve staggered rotational terms and commit to attend regular meetings at the Boston Fed.

Steven Holzer, senior vice president and head of strategy and transformation, WEX

Michel Rbeiz, senior vice president and general manager of fintech, Toast

Julieann M. Thurlow, president and chief executive officer, Reading Cooperative Bank
