Blue Jay Financial Group acquires insurance business

Jason Bernal and Jason Demland of Blue Jay Financial Group in Defiance have acquired The Wright Agency, a 20-year-old investment and insurance business owned by Randy Wright.

"I've known Randy most of my life and know that his family values and integrity fit with what we're building at Blue Jay," Demland said.

"Clients that are transitioning to Blue Jay can expect leveraging of the latest technology, customized and conflict-free portfolio management, and investment advice that's in their best interest combined with a high level of service," Bernal added.

The acquisition comes as a result of Blue Jay's expansion into the corporate retirement plan and insurance business as well as Wright's search for a succession plan. The downtown Defiance offices have been remodeled to accommodate more employees and continues to grow.

"I'm excited about this transition because of the opportunities it will provide for me and my clients," Wright said. "I'll be working in the Blue Jay office for a few more years and plan to be a part of the team helping with the transition." Blue Jay has the ability to offer investment services that were not previously available for clients of Wright's.

Blue Jay Financial group started in 2015 with Bernal and Demland. Blue Jay is a Dave Ramsey SmartVestor Pro financial advisor and specializes in financial planning, portfolio construction, and investment management.
