Blue Cross association moving headquarters to Aon Center [Chicago Tribune]
Chicago Tribune (IL)
The Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, which has headquarters in Chicago, plans to move its offices around the block to the Aon Center.
The association has about 765 employees in its Chicago office, which is now located at 225 N. Michigan Ave. The move is expected in late 2023 or 2024, said a spokesperson in an email.
The association plans to lease about 95,000 square feet at the Aon Center at 200 E. Randolph St.
The association is a national federation of 34 independent and locally operated Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies that provide health insurance. It is not the same organization as Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois, which is Illinois’ largest health insurance company and a division of Health Care Service Corp.
Health Care Service Corp. is an independent licensee of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association.
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois and Health Care Service Corp. do not have plans to move from their current headquarters at 300 E. Randolph St., said Colleen Miller, a spokeswoman for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois.
“We are excited about a new space that represents our long-term investment in our employees’ workplace experience, with a particular focus on ‘we space’ versus ‘me space,’” said Jennifer Vachon, executive vice president, business operations for Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, in a news release. “Our move to the Aon Center will provide employees with a flexible environment that meets our evolving needs.”
