May 24-- May 24--New Mexico's health insurance exchange, beWellnm, announced Thursday that it has contracted with hCentive, a health care technology and services vendor, to move the exchange from a federal technology platform to a state-based marketplace, according to a news release.
The company website says Reston, Va.-based hCentive has been serving clients for 10 years.
The anticipated launch for the state-based marketplace is expected for the 2022 plan year, said David Shaw, chairman of the beWellnm board of directors.
The board of directors voted unanimously to award the contract to hCentive and authorized Jeffery Bustamante, the interim CEO of New Mexico's health insurance exchange, to negotiate with hCentive a $13.4 million contract for design, development and implementation, plus a $14.12 million contract for maintenance and operation for three years.
Officials said a move to a state-based marketplace "will enable us to better serve the residents in New Mexico and allow us to collect data that's necessary to better care for our patients and make sure that we are providing the right services that they need," Shaw said.
The exchange was created through the federal Affordable Care Act.
