BDO USA Expands Risk & Recovery Services

BDO USA, LLP, one of the nation's leading accounting and advisory firms, today announced the appointment of Mark Millard as Managing Director and leader of the newly-created Insurance Risk Advisory group in the firm's Forensic Investigation & Litigation Services practice.

Mr. Millard brings more than 20 years of insurance risk management experience to his new role, where he will work with organizations to evaluate and optimize their insurance risk management programs to eliminate coverage gaps while minimizing costs. He will report to Clark Schweers, BDO's Forensic Insurance & Recovery practice leader.

The new Insurance Risk Advisory group provides integrated services across three pillars: insurance risk program design and policy evaluation; claims advisory and compliance management; and insurance vendor management. Led by Mr. Millard, the team will help organizations quantify their total cost of risk leveraging advanced analytics, develop an efficient risk management framework, negotiate and structure insurance products with multiple vendors to maximize cost savings, and streamline claims management processes. The practice also offers insurance risk management co-sourcing and outsourcing.

Prior to joining BDO, Mr. Millard served as a principal in the risk solutions practice at EPIC Insurance Brokers & Consultants, leading their complex risk insurance team. He previously spent nearly ten years in the Insurance Risk and Claims Practice of a large professional services firm, where he led insurance risk program assessments and a wide range of specialty projects, including the development of an insurance purchasing framework; authoring a manual to negotiate insurance provisions in contracts; and M&A due diligence. Earlier in his career, Mr. Millard developed his technical insurance risk management skillset as an insurance risk manager and analyst at UBS, Lendlease and KMC Telecom. Mr. Millard is a graduate of Montclair State University and holds the Associate in Risk Management designation.
