Barnes celebrates 37 years in business [The Huntsville Item, Texas]

Mar. 16—Diana K. Barnes has been in business in Huntsville for over 37 years now. From her early years as a Special Educator with Region 6 focusing on the blind and visually impaired to becoming an insurance agent, Barnes will be the first to tell you she has seen it all.

As a teacher, Barnes loved her job but found that the travel was too much for her and she needed to stop.

"That is when my sister, who worked for State Farm, said I needed to give it a try," Barnes said. "I did and it is just like being a teacher."

She grew up as a Navy brat, attending Florida State to receive her bachelor and master in Visual Disabilities.

Nowadays, Barnes continues working in her communities she serves as a State Farm Insurance Agent.

She focuses on Auto, Home, Life, & Business Insurance in Huntsville and surrounding areas, including New Waverly, Willis, Lake Conroe, Montgomery, Spring, and Houston.

Huntsville State Farm Insurance has been around since 1987. Barnes has been named the Huntsville Item "Readers Choice Insurance Agent" 2014-15, Army Family Readiness Group Award of Excellence 2012, and been a resident of Huntsville since 1983. She has served as Chairman of the Board for Faith Lutheran School 2007-2014, and received Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) Designation and Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) Designation.

"I am a proud mother and grandmother," Barnes added, bragging about her son Jimmy, who holds a Master of Business Administration from Texas A&M University.

Barnes said her memories of past disasters could fill pages, but many of her memories involve helping people in need with her remarkable team.
