DUBLIN (AP) _ Aon PLC (AON) on Friday reported third-quarter net income of $408 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.
The Dublin-based company said it had profit of $1.92 per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, were $2.02 per share.
The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of eight analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $2.01 per share.
The insurance brokerage posted revenue of $2.7 billion in the period, which did not meet Street forecasts. Seven analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $2.8 billion.
Aon shares have dropped 6% since the beginning of the year, while the S&P's 500 index has decreased 20%. The stock has declined 11% in the last 12 months.
