Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield Indiana Names Dr. Kimberly Roop President of Medicaid Health Plan

Dr. Roop brings nearly 20 years of healthcare experience to new role

INDIANAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield Indiana (Anthem) announced today that Dr. Kimberly Roop has been appointed President of its Medicaid plan. Dr. Roop most recently held the position of Regional Vice President and Medical Director at Anthem and succeeds Kristen Metzger, who is assuming an expanded role within the organization as President, Medicaid Central Region. In her new role, Dr. Roop will be responsible for all aspects of health plan operations, including strategic planning, provider contracting, member quality and outreach, access and coordination of medical services and plan performance.

Dr. Roop joined Anthem eleven years ago and has held several positions at the Company. In her most recent role, Dr. Roop worked on a variety of programs designed to improve the quality of care and service to Anthem’s Medicaid members. Prior to joining Anthem, Dr. Roop served as an obstetrician/gynecologist in the Air Force where she assisted in relief efforts following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks and worked at a large private obstetrics and gynecology practice in Indianapolis. Dr. Roop earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from Indiana University School of Medicine and her MBA from West Virginia University.

Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield works with the state of Indiana to offer the Hoosier Healthwise (HHW), Hoosier Care Connect (HCC) and Healthy Indiana Plan (HIP) health insurance programs for 435,000 Medicaid beneficiaries. HHW is a health care program for children up to age 19 and pregnant women that covers medical care like doctor visits, prescription medicine, mental health care, dental care, hospitalizations, and surgeries.
