America’s Health Insurance Plans Issues Statement on Medicare Advantage Proposed Payment
Targeted News Service
WASHINGTON, Feb. 1 -- America's Health Insurance Plans issued the following statement by President and CEO Marilyn Tavenner on the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Medicare Advantage proposed payment rates and policies for the 2019 benefit year:
"Medicare Advantage works and is growing, with just under 20 million nationwide beneficiaries. Research continues to show that, for around the same costs as traditional Medicare, Medicare Advantage is more efficient and produces better outcomes.
"It's better for seniors, for taxpayers, and for health care in our nation. That's why in the past few weeks 363 members of Congress - Republicans and Democrats alike - signed onto a letter to show their strong support for Medicare Advantage.
"AHIP will review the advance rate notice carefully to ensure the Medicare Advantage program is protected from policies that could impact the long-term stability of the program and seniors' access to quality, affordable health care that meets their individual needs."
