Ambetter Confirms Participation in NH Exchange in 2018

CONCORD, N.H., Aug. 10 -- The New Hampshire Department of Insurance issued the following news release:
The company that offers Ambetter health insurance on New Hampshire's exchange announced today that it will remain in the market for 2018.
Ambetter, offered through NH Healthy Families, provides coverage in the individual marketplace through the New Hampshire exchange and to Premium Assistance Program (Medicaid Expansion) enrollees who enroll through the NH Easy portal.
"This is great news for the state," said New Hampshire Insurance Commissioner Roger Sevigny. "We are in a time of significant turmoil in the individual health insurance market. Uncertainty in Washington has contributed to insurance companies' hesitations to remain in the individual market in 2018 - the news that Ambetter will continue to be an option for New Hampshire residents is heartening."
Two other companies, Anthem and Harvard Pilgrim, have announced intentions to offer plans on the exchange in 2018 but have not confirmed their decision. Companies must sign a contract with the federal government by September 27 in order to offer plans on the exchange in 2018.
"We are hopeful that the other companies will remain on the exchange for 2018 despite the significant uncertainty they are facing," said Commissioner Sevigny.
The New Hampshire Insurance Department's mission is to promote and protect the public good by ensuring the existence of a safe and competitive insurance marketplace through the development and enforcement of the insurance laws of the State of New Hampshire.
