Alzheimer’s awareness event Sept. 7

Jul. 4--Registration is underway for the 2019 Southern Colorado Walk to End Alzheimer's, slated for Sept. 7 at Rock Canyon Swim Beach at Lake Pueblo State Park.

To date, 77 participants and 25 teams have pledged more than $20,000 of this year's $90,000 goal.

As Edward Jones is national presenting sponsor of the walk, local financial advisors are hosting a free "Health and Wealth: Making Sense of Alzheimer's" discussion from 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m. July 9 at the Pueblo Convention Center.

"Alzheimer's disease is a serious threat to the health and wealth of our clients," said financial advisor Tina White. "That's why we are inviting the community to join us for the Walk to End Alzheimer's and to attend the special 'Health and Wealth' presentation."

The July 7 presentation will feature a "healthy living" presentation from Ann Carter, regional director of the Alzheimer's Association, with additional information on managing health care costs in retirement, family wealth management and financial planning also on the agenda.

Parkview Mobile Nurses will be on hand to offer smoothies and blood pressure checks, and representatives from Health and Life Matters Insurance, Bonaventure Retirement Community and Keller Williams Realty will be on hand to offer information and answer questions.
