Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty Appoints David Warfel Head of Aviation, North America

By a News Reporter-Staff News Editor at Journal of Transportation -- Allianz Group's specialist corporate insurer Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty® (AGCS) announced that David Warfel has been named Head of Aviation, North America, effective October 1. Based in New York, Warfel was previously Head of Major Risks for Aviation at Allianz for more than five years. He takes over responsibility from Mike Hansen, who was promoted to Global Head of Aviation earlier this year.

In his new role, Warfel is charged with leading the Aviation business in the region, developing and executing on the regional strategy as well as supporting the global 'One Aviation' approach. He will report directly to John Barnwell, Regional Head of Specialty Lines, North America, with a matrix reporting line to Mike Hansen.

Warfel has nearly two decades of aviation insurance experience with a background in General Aviation, Product Liability and Airline underwriting. He has been with AGCS since 2008; prior to his previous role as Head of Major Risks, he was an Aviation Practice Leader for the Midwest. Before joining AGCS, Warfel held various underwriting and management positions at AIG and USAIG.

Warfel is a graduate of the Institute of Aviation at the University of Illinois and is a licensed commercial pilot.
