Alexandra Adams Named NRDC’s Sr. Director of Federal Affairs

WASHINGTON, Oct. 8 -- The Natural Resources Defense Council issued the following news release:

The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) has named Alexandra Adams Senior Director of Federal Affairs.

Adams is the legislative director for NRDC's Nature program and has worked as the group's chief legislative advocate for oceans during the Obama and Trump administrations.

"Alex will bring enormous skill and experience to our federal affairs team. She's a seasoned legislative tactician, committed to environmental advocacy, and is ideally positioned to spearhead our team's work on the Hill." said John Bowman, Managing Director of Government Affairs.

Adams coordinates NRDC's strategy for preventing legislative threats to lands, oceans, water and wildlife. She serves on NRDC's Federal Climate Management Team and leads the organization's work on offshore oil and gas development. In pursuing NRDC's environmental policy goals, Adams has worked extensively with staffers in the Senate, House and administrative agencies.

Adams has defended rollbacks to the Endangered Species Act, the National Environmental Policy Act, the Magnuson-Stevens Act and the Antiquities Act. She also played a key role in NRDC's efforts to secure the first marine national monument in the U.S. Atlantic Ocean.

Prior to joining NRDC, Adams worked for national and regional conservation organizations with a focus on climate change adaptation, endangered species, and water resources.

Adams received her masters' degree in Environmental Studies from Brown University. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Journalism from the University of Florida.

Originally from South Florida, Adams is based in Washington, DC, and will assume her new role on October 15th.
