AIA Names Wes McClelland Vice President for Federal Affairs

The American Insurance Association (AIA) announced today that Wesley R. McClelland will assume the position of vice president for federal affairs effective September 8. McClelland currently serves as senior policy advisor in the Office of Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).

"Wes' top-tier congressional experience will make him a great addition to AIA." said Leigh Ann Pusey, AIA's president and CEO. "He possesses the political and policy savvy that will help AIA achieve our legislative goals before Congress."

Before joining Leader McCarthy's staff in 2011, McClelland served as senior policy advisor to Rep. John Campbell (R-CA) advising the House Financial Services Committee Member during the 2008 financial crisis and subsequent Dodd-Frank financial regulatory reform debate and legislation. In addition, he previously served as legislative assistant to Rep. Bill Thomas (R-CA). McClelland earned a BSE from Duke University's Pratt School of Engineering and a Master's in Economics from the University of Kansas.
