Data show that in 2024 health plans' profit margin was 0.8%, and that in 2023 health plan profits represented about 0.5% of national health expenditures. Health plans are the only part of the health care system whose profits and administrative costs are capped under federal law.
Nothing is more important than helping Americans access the care they need at prices they can afford including the 24 million Americans who count on affordable coverage in the individual market and are facing soaring costs in 2026 unless action is taken soon.
