ACAP-Member Safety Net Health Plans Earn High Marks for Quality, Service

Targeted News Service (Press Releases)

WASHINGTON, Oct. 14 -- The Association for Community Affiliated Plans issued the following news release:

A report issued by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) found that a number of Safety Net Health Plan members of the Association for Community Affiliated Plans (ACAP) earned high marks in Medicaid for its 2023 Health Plan Ratings, a national ranking of health plans based on publicly-reported metrics of clinical quality and member experience.

NCQA, an independent organization dedicated to improving quality and value in health care, oversees the Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS), the most widely-used set of performance measures in the health care industry.

Top-performing ACAP-member Safety Net Health Plans include:

Rating of 4.5 (of 5):

* AmeriHealth Caritas Pennsylvania Community HealthChoices (MLTSS)

* Fallon Health (Ma.)

* Neighborhood Health Plan of Rhode Island

* UPMC for You (Pa.)

Rating of 4 (of 5):

* Alameda Alliance for Health (Calif.)

* AmeriHealth Caritas Pennsylvania

* CalOptima Health (Calif.)

* Chorus Community Health Plans (Wisc.)

* Community Health Group (Calif.)

* Geisinger Health Plan (Pa.)

* Health Plan of San Mateo (Calif.)

* Keystone First (Pa.)

* Keystone First Community HealthChoices (MLTSS) (Pa.)

* San Francisco Health Plan (Calif.)

* WellSense Health Plan (Mass.)

"We're proud of the unwavering dedication ACAP-member Safety Net Health Plans have towards providing comprehensive health coverage to individuals with low incomes or high levels of health need," said ACAP CEO Margaret A. Murray. "Despite a changing policy landscape, tight budgets, and limited resources our plans continue to put their members first - by ensuring eligible individuals maintain coverage during the Medicaid unwinding, partnering with community groups to improve service access, and piloting cutting-edge programming to address social determinants of health."

NCQA's Health Plan Report Cards are based upon data reported by health plans through the Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS(R)) and the Consumer Assessment of Health Plans and Systems (CAHPS(R)) measures of member experience. The ratings also credit plans that have earned NCQA Accreditation.
