A.M. Best Affirms American Family’s ‘A’ (Excellent) Rating

MADISON, Wis., June 29 -- American Family Insurance issued the following news release:
A.M. Best recently affirmed the excellent financial strength ratings and stable outlooks of American Family Insurance group (including Homesite), American Family Life Insurance Company and Permanent General Insurance Group.
It's the third highest of their 15 ratings and is the fourteenth consecutive year American Family Insurance group received this rating.
* American Family Insurance Group: A (Excellent) financial strength rating with a stable outlook.
* American Family Life Insurance Company: A (Excellent) financial strength rating with a stable outlook.
* Permanent General Insurance Group: A- (Excellent) financial strength rating with a positive outlook.
As an enterprise, American Family has taken several steps to improve our long-term financial health including:
* Geographic expansion and diversification and development of direct channel capabilities through Homesite and The General.
* Strengthening of exclusive agency distribution channel through significant investments in technology.
* Purchasing catastrophe aggregate reinsurance.
* Improved organizational flexibility to pursue initiatives through MHC structure with no diminishment of organizational strength.
* Upgrading the policy administration and claims systems.
