XL Group Appoints Jason Harris Chief Executive for International Property & Casualty Insurance

PR Newswire Association LLC

LONDON, Jan. 23, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --The insurance segment of XL Group plc ("XL") (NYSE: XL) today announced the appointment of Jason Harris as Chief Executive of its International P&C Insurance business. Mr. Harris will be based in London and report to Greg Hendrick, CEO of XL's insurance segment. Upon joining XL, Mr. Harris will become a member of the insurance segment's Executive Board.

Commenting on the appointment Mr. Hendrick said, "We are delighted to have the benefit of Jason's broad skill-set and international industry experience. His background in underwriting and business line management positions him well to lead our large international P&C business. Jason will play a critical role in continuing our momentum in the International region, where we are looking to consolidate and expand our market presence in a broad range of mature and emerging markets."

Over the last six years, Mr. Harris has been with Chartis Insurance UK Ltd, where he progressed rapidly through different property and casualty underwriting executive positions. He most recently held the role of Executive Director Commercial Lines for the UK, with responsibility for a diverse product mix.

Mr. Hendrick added, "Jason's broad span of responsibilities will focus on delivering on our strategic aspirations for the region. In his new role he will be working with a strong group of talented individuals, and especially with XL's Global Distribution and Network unit, to ensure that we provide innovative solutions that anticipate and respond to our clients' and brokers' needs – and help make their worlds go."

Before joining Chartis (then AIG) in 2006, Mr. Harris held different positions with Chubb Insurance Company of Europe for almost ten years. He holds a BSc in geology from the University of Southampton and started his career working in the offshore energy sector.
