Visiting Nurse Association Promotes Unique Holiday Fundraising Effort to Encourage Spending with a Purpose

PR Web

(PRWEB) November 27, 2013

The Visiting Nurse Association of Northern N.J. has joined #GivingTuesday, a first of its kind effort that will harness the collective power of a unique blend of partners—charities, families, businesses and individuals—to transform how people think about, talk about and participate in the giving season. Coinciding with the Thanksgiving Holiday and the kickoff of the holiday shopping season, #GivingTuesday will inspire people to take collaborative action to improve their local communities, give back in better, smarter ways to the charities and causes they support and help create a better world. Taking place December 3, 2013 – the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, this event will harness the power of social media to create a national moment around the holidays dedicated to giving, similar to how Black Friday and Cyber Monday have become days that are, today, synonymous with holiday shopping.

The Visiting Nurse Association of Northern New Jersey is celebrating the #GivingTuesday fundraising effort that will allow seniors with physical or cognitive challenges to find acceptance and joy of companionship at the VNA Friendship House Adult Day Center. It will help ensure that local elderly and disabled shut-ins continue to receive VNA Home Health Aide visits and grant those in the final phase of life the opportunity to remain in the comfort and dignity of their homes supported by the VNA Hospice team.

“During this time of the year, it’s important to remember to give back to those who are less fortunate. The VNA is excited to be a part of this second annual #GivingTuesday which allows our organization to continue providing compassionate and comprehensive care to all those in need,” said Amanda DeFelice, Community Relations Manager at the VNA.

This nonprofit organization’s legacy of connecting the homebound with compassionate neighbors spans 115 years. Your gift will ensure the continuation of their tradition of caring. About the Visiting Nurse Association of Northern New Jersey:
Statistics show Americans would prefer to age in place at home. However, few are factoring the cost of home care into their retirement planning. Each day, the Visiting Nurse Association of Northern New Jersey encounters seniors who need a helping hand to realize their best quality of life. Many with chronic but treatable medical conditions and routine symptoms of aging aren’t eligible for Medicare home care bene?ts. That’s why it’s imperative for those who haven’t yet reached retirement age to plan ahead for individual needs. The Visiting Nurse Association of Northern New Jersey has devoted more than a century to delivering home health services to the residents of Morris County, NJ and neighboring communities who want to return home following hospitalization or need a helping hand to remain in the comfort of home despite illness, disability or advanced age. The Visiting Nurse Association of Northern New Jersey provides comprehensive home care services, including skilled nursing, physical, occupational and speech therapy, hospice, certified home health aides, caregiver training and support and Friendship House, an adult day care center. The Private Care Services program offers certified home health aide assistance tailored to meet specific client needs, lifestyles and resource levels. Private care is available a few hours each week or on a full-time or live-in basis. For further information about VNA services and planning ahead for private care needs, call 1-800-WE-VISIT or go to http://www.vnannj.org.
