Kyle Lovern, Williamson Daily News, W.Va.

McClatchy-Tribune Information Services

Sept. 27--On Sunday, September 21st the Tug Valley Bass Anglers held its seventh tournament of the 2014 season on Dewey Lake in Floyd County Kentucky.

A total of 28 anglers competed in the event, which was sponsored by TMK Security.

Dewey Lake was at normal pool with stained to muddy water on the entire lake and a temperatures around 77 degrees.

Weather for the tournament was perfect with partly cloudy skies, moderate winds with an air temperature in the low 80's.

This time of year the fish are transitioning to their fall locations and they are hard to locate and pattern. The fish were scattered, but most of them seemed to still be on the main lake and were from 5 to 15 feet deep.

The main pattern for this tournament was to fish top water in the morning then when the sun got bright fish crank-baits and soft plastics mainly finesse lures tight to cover.

The top finishers are as follows:

1st -- Bryan Fields (3 fish) 9.97 lbs.

2nd -- Brad May (3 fish) 7.81 lbs.

3rd -- Cliston Blanton (2 fish) 6.04 lbs.

4th -- Gerry Adkins (2 fish) 5.18 lbs.

5th -- Michael Salyer (2 fish) 4.06 lbs.

6th -MO (1 fish) 3.18 lbs.

7th -- Don Taylor (1 fish) 2.88 lbs.

8th -- Brandon Staten (1 fish) 2.53 lbs.

9th -- Kevin Marcum (1 fish) 2.03 lbs.

10th -Mike Cullop (1 fish) 1.99 lbs.
