Tompkinsville City Commissioners hire new clerk

July 29--TOMPKINSVILLE -- Tompkinsville City Commissioners have hired a new city clerk.

Leslie Page of Tompkinsville was hired by the commission during their July 24 regular monthly meeting.

Page fills a vacancy left by John Buford of Celina, Tenn. who was terminated in June after having worked as city clerk since October 2013. He succeeded Jennifer Arms, who resigned in August 2013.

Commissioners also discussed a gas bill issue with city resident Frank Massingille.

In other action, commissioners voted to:

--approve loan documents for gas system improvements;

--approve on second reading an ordinance granting rights-of-way for sewer construction improvements;

--approve on second reading an ordinance defining names and clarifying 911 information with residents' mailing addresses;

-- approve an ordinance regarding the city's contract with Ricky Sheffield as electrical inspector;

--agree to allow Anderson Forest Products to connect to the sewer system for its wash station runoff;

--adopt a resolution to set up an HRA account for city reimbursement regarding city health insurance;

--place a Special Olympics clothes bin at the Tompkinsville Police Department; and

--to appoint Athalene Crowe to the Barren River Area Development District'sAging Council.
