Third Party Logistics Provider, Kane Is Able, Inc., Wins Risk Control Safety Award

Third-party logistics provider Kane Is Able, Inc. (KANE -- http://www.kaneisable.com) has been awarded the Risk Control Safety Award from the IWLA Insurance Company, which is made up of members of the International Warehouse Logistics Association. The award recognizes excellence in risk management in the warehousing and freight services industry. In 2011, KANE had the highest overall safety rating of all 39 third party logistics (3PL) companies who belong to the insurance cooperative.

Susan Hauser, AIC, is Division Vice President of Risk Management of Artex Risk Solutions, which administers the program for the IWLA Insurance Company. She says, “The award considers a range of factors, including the number of OSHA reportable incidents, risk audit scores, and ongoing driver and warehouse safety training. By outperforming its peers, KANE has demonstrated that workplace safety is a priority.”

According to Nancy Cruger, KANE’s Director of Continuous Improvement, maintaining a safe work environment for associates and customers is part of KANE’s culture. “We have a rigorous process for incident review, root cause analysis and prevention planning, and it’s paying off,” she says. “The 3PL industry average for OSHA reportable incident rate is 5.8 per year per 100 associates. As of September, 2012, KANE is trending at 2.0.”

The award recognizes safety performance across 16 KANE-operated CPG distribution centers and KANE’s Northeast truckload delivery fleet.
