The MDA Fifth Edition will be available in four delivery formats: Internet subscription; multi-volume reference textbook (more than 3500 pages in three volumes with storage case); Windows software version on CD-ROM; and data integration for seamless linking and embedding into proprietary claim or case management systems. The Internet subscription format is being released for general availability on April 5th, with all other formats available in the summer of 2005.

“We are particularly pleased about the Fifth Edition’s release because it includes easily accessible new content, integrated with observed workplace disability duration data and the world’s first evidence-based rehabilitation guidelines as researched and certified by the Occupational and Industrial Orthopedic Center (OIOC) of New York University. This edition sets the world standard as the most comprehensive resource for disability duration guidelines,” says Dr. Presley Reed, Editor-in-Chief of The Medical Disability Advisor and Chairman/Chief Medical Officer of Reed Group.

Since 1991, acceptance of the MDA guidelines has continually expanded. More than 22,000 multinational customers throughout the US, Canada and in more than 30 other countries utilize The Medical Disability Advisor . It is widely recognized as the global leader in evidence-based, medical disability duration guidelines.

The MDA is designed for use by medical and non-medical professionals whose positions require familiarity with the injuries and illnesses of working people. This reference provides general guidelines that can be used to alert those working in the areas of medical disability to important points in time during the recovery process when review of the individual’s case is desirable (such as to ensure delivery of appropriate, timely medical care to assist individuals return to productive work when and if they are medically able to do so).
