The Hartford names Paul G Kirk and Thomas A Renyi to board

Insurance and investment company The Hartford Financial Services Group Inc (NYSE:HIG) on Friday reported the appointment of Paul G Kirk and Thomas A Renyi to its board of directors.

Kirk is chairman, president and a director of Kirk & Associates Inc, a business advisory and consulting firm. He is returning to the board after filling the US Senate seat vacated by Massachusetts Senator Edward M. Kennedy. He served as treasurer of the Democratic Party of the United States from 1983 to 1985 and as chairman from 1985 until 1989. Kirk is also on the board of directors of Rayonier Inc.

Renyi served as executive chairman of The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation from July 2007 until his retirement in August 2008. Before that he was chairman and CEO of The Bank of New York Company Inc and The Bank of New York from February 1998 to July 2007. Renyi is also on the board of directors of RiskMetrics Group Inc and Public Service Enterprise Group.
