Sunshine State Health Plan Rebrands As Sunshine Health

SUNRISE, Fla., Dec. 31, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Sunshine State Health Plan, a subsidiary of Centene Corporation, is undergoing a statewide rebranding initiative to increase exposure of the multiple managed care services it offers in Florida. As of January 1, 2014, Sunshine State Health Plan will officially launch its new brand, including a new logo and marketing materials to reflect its new name, Sunshine Health.

Sunshine Health has served Florida'sMedicaid population since 2009.  The company currently serves more than 220,000 members and boasts close to 800 employees statewide.

In August, the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) awarded Sunshine Health a Long Term Care (LTC) contract in 10 of Florida's 11 regions.  The LTC contract enables members who qualify to receive necessary care in the comfort of their home instead of a nursing home.  In September, AHCA recommended Sunshine Health for award as a Medicaid health plan for the Managed Medical Assistance (MMA) program in 9 of Florida's 11 regions and for Child Welfare/Foster Care health insurance services statewide. 

Sunshine Health also offers Medicare Advantage plans in 22 counties, Healthy Kids in St. Lucie County, and a Healthcare Exchange product, Ambetter, in Broward, Dade and Palm Beach counties.
