Summit Reinsurance Services, Inc. (Summit Re) is pleased to announce the addition of Vice President and Lead Reinsurance Underwriter Shaun Peterson to its executive staff. Shaun joins the Summit Re actuarial and underwriting team and will focus on provider excess-of-loss insurance and health plan excess-of-loss reinsurance (see also Summit Reinsurance Services, Inc.).
Shaun is a former United Healthcare director of actuarial services. Prior to that, he was a senior executive with HCC as vice president for reinsurance and chief actuary for Perico Life Insurance Company. Shaun has extensive experience in both the insurance and reinsurance markets.
Mark Troutman, Summit Re's president, said, "Health care reform presents a myriad of new risks and opportunities. As Summit Re manages its existing commercial, Medicare and Medicaid product lines, it will also seek to provide insurance and reinsurance solutions to accountable care organizations, health care cooperatives and health insurance exchanges. Shaun's skills and experience will be invaluable in each undertaking. We value our 12-year relationship with Swiss Re Corporate Solutions for medical excess-of-loss business and look forward to working with Shaun as we follow the risk under health care reform initiatives."
