San Bernardino Rotary Club North Lends a Hand

Both John and David were found in front of the Stater Bros. Market around noon time. Paul and Martha Pinckney, Kip Sturgeon, and Roslyn Billings also took their turn bell ringing on various shifts during the day.

On Saturday, December 14 the Rotary Club of San Bernardino North took over bell ringing operations in front of the Stater Bros. Market on Highland Ave. and Palm Ave. in the City of Highland. For several years the Rotarians have been helping the San Bernardino Salvation Army Corps in various areas including bell ringing. This year these Rotarians brought out a band for a portionof the bell ringing shift; providing Christmas Carols!

The tradition of the Salvation Army "Kettle" during the Christmas holidays started in 1891 in San Francisco, by Captain Joseph McFee, in an effort to collect enough money to provid a free Christmas dinner to the poor. Now the tradition has spread worldwide.

Donations collected during the Christmas kettle campaign in San Bernardino are used to provide food baskets, and other essential during the Christmas season.
