SH city manager gets raise, bonus [The Herald-Palladium, St. Joseph, Mich.]

Dec. 28--SOUTH HAVEN -- South Haven City Manager Brian Dissette is getting a 2 percent raise and a bonus payment after getting a very positive job evaluation.

The City Council went into a closed session last week to do the annual evaluation and then approved the pay raise and a one-time $5,000 bonus payment for Dissette.

His new annual salary is $90,223.

Dissette has been manager since November 2008. Before that, he was the city's public works director for about two years. Before coming to work for South Haven, he was Watervliet's city manager for five years.

Mayor Bob Burr Tuesday said the council is very pleased with Dissette's job as mayor.

"His communications skills are exceptional, and we received a very good audit this year," Burr said.

"He is maturing with the job. At this point he is content" to stay on as manager.

The council evaluated Dissette on a range of areas, with an overall rating of 4.8 out of a possible perfect score of 5.

Here is a breakdown of the average scores he received in the various areas: 5 in the areas of professionalism and communication with council; 4.9 in overall performance; 4.8 in intergovernmental relations and financial planning and budgeting; 4.7 in delivery of city services; and 4.5 in management.
