Relias Learning selected by Cambia Health Solutions for Palliative Care Staff Training

Cary, NC (PRWEB) April 23, 2015

CARY, NC, April 23, 2015 – Cambia Health Solutions, the largest health insurer in Oregon and Washington, is partnering with Relias Learning to deliver palliative care training to its internal case management team.

During the summer of 2014, Cambia launched the industry's most comprehensive palliative care program. The program is serving as a catalyst to transform health care delivery, creating a better, person-focused and economically sustainable system.

"Further enhancing the knowledge and skills of our internal case management team will have a profound impact on our palliative care initiative," said Mark Ganz, CEO of Cambia. "Providing our team with the best training possible is an essential piece of the puzzle in creating this kind of transformation within our provider network."

Cambia has taken a leadership position in reimbursing providers for palliative care services prior to a hospice benefit designation and more closely aligned with a chronic illness diagnosis. The Relias Learning palliative care library, with nearly 100 courses including the popular End of Life Nursing Education Consortium (ELNEC) curricula is designed to enhance communication and care delivery between the interdisciplinary care team and persons with a chronic illness diagnosis.

The Relias trainings will assist Cambia case management staff with bridging the gap necessary to communicate the benefits of palliative care to both providers and patients while further explaining the difference between palliative care and hospice. Additionally, the courses will lay the foundation for a consistent approach to palliative care referrals and application.

"We are excited to partner with Cambia Health Solutions to help enable this revolutionary and necessary approach to chronic illness management," says Jim Triandiflou, CEO of Relias Learning. "Evidence-based research has shown that an early intervention of palliative care is a triple bottom line win – enabling a more efficient delivery of care while improving patient satisfaction and extending life expectancy."

Triandiflou adds, "Cambia believes that palliative care is profoundly personal and rooted in respect for human life. Enabling their case management team with these high-quality courses will assist in making their client's lives better."
