Sept. 30--Led by Lauren Anderson, Deer Creek-Mackinaw rallied back from a loss in the opening set to defeat Tri-Valley 27-29, 25-23, 25-22 in a Heart of Illinois Conference showdown at Mackinaw.

Anderson had 14 kills, six aces and 24 digs for the Chiefs who won their seventh straight HOIC match without a loss. Dee-Mack is now 17-1 overall.

Junior middle hitter Addie Patton had 14 kills for the Chiefs and contributed three blocks. Kenzie Rhodes had 26 assists.

Lauren Wombles had 15 kills for the Vikings (12-2, 6-1), who also received 31 assists from Taylor Tedrick and 16 digs from Macey Rosensteel. Maddie Merritt had eight blocks.

Blue Ridge wins 20th: Blue Ridge defeated host LeRoy 25-16, 25-15 to notch its 20th victory of the season. The Knights (20-4, 5-3) were led by Gabby Pearl's eight kills and Taylor Builta's 10 digs. Hallie Sammer had 13 assists for LeRoy (6-8, 0-5).

Heyworth tips Tremont: Mackenzie Koch had seven kills and Sarah Geosling seven blocks to lead Heyworth to a 25-20, 25-17 Heart of Illinois conference win over host Tremont. Amber Tomlin had 15 assists for the Hornets (13-7, 5-2). Hope Wood had five kills for the Turks (11-8, 5-2).

EPG wins: Kaylin Vallero had seven kills and Shannon Roark and Shelby Fulk contributed 11 digs each as El Paso-Gridley defeated Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley 25-21, 25-13 in an HOIC match at El Paso. Gracie Feeney had 16 digs for the Titans (10-6, 4-2). Sydney Vetter had six digs for GCMS (2-10, 1-4).

Fieldcrest topples Lexington: Emmie Wiesenhofer had nine kills and six digs to help Fieldcrest to a 25-22, 25-18 victory over Lexington at Minonk. Courtney Moritz had 29 assists for the Knights (17-2, 4-2).

Gabby Freed and Lillie Walcott had six kills each for Lexington (13-7, 4-3). Starr Baker had ten digs and Lexi Bury 15 assists.

Dwight prevails: Quinn Bossert had eight kills and Amy Ruder six as Dwight evened its record at 10-10 with a 20-25, 25-20, 25-22 win over Gardner at Dwight. Lili Ferrari contributed 24 assists for the Trojans.

Cissna Park wins: Addy Stoller paced Cissna Park with seven kills and nine digs as the host Timberwolves defeated Milford 25-16, 25-12. Lexi Knake had 14 service points for Cissna Park (17-2, 4-0) and also added eight digs. Anna Kaeb contributed 15 assists. Addy Stoller had four blocks.

Bahler powers PBL: Eve Bahler registered 14 service points and 15 assists to lead Paxton-Buckley-Loda (16-5) to a 28-26, 25-18 win over host Rantoul. Kellyn Maynard chipped in six kills and Skylar Harris five digs for the Panthers.

Iroquois West wins border war: Iroquois West captured a five-set win over South Newton (Ind.) on the strength of 16 kills by Taylor Cultra and 30 assists by Elena Sanchez. Grace Schroeder had 11 digs for the Raiders who won the opening set 26-24. After dropping 15-25 and 12-25 decisions in the next two sets, Iroquois West (7-9) battled back to win the fourth 25-20 and the decisive fifth, 15-13.

SOCCER

U High loses at Champaign: A goal by University High'sJaik Hunt with an assist from Danny Cole cut into an early second half Champaign Central lead, but the Maroons held off the Pioneers (3-6-4) for a 4-1 victory at Champaign.

After playing to a 0-0 halftime deadlock, Central scored a pair of quick goals early in the second half and added a pair of insurance tallies late.

Central outshot the Pioneers 22-11.

FOOTBALL

NCHS-BHS ticket sales: Tickets for Friday's Normal Community at Bloomington football game will be on sale in the athletic offices at NCHS and BHS from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday through Friday. Tickets are $4 for adults, $2 for students and $1 for senior citizens. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. Friday at BHS' Fred Carlton Field.
