Pay it Forward Update; Mother of Three Blessed by Complete Stranger [WXMI-TV, Grand Rapids, Mich.]

Dec. 31--COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. -- In early December, FOX 17 featured Cheri Searer as the "Pay it Forward Person of the Week". Cheri reached out to a young mother of three, with a fourth on the way, after she noticed the rundown Ford Escort Amber was using to deliver her children to school. The back and side windows all busted out of the vehicle.

"I saw the vehicle, and it was freezing that day," Cheri told FOX 17. "It was 30 degrees and the back window of the car was completely gone. It broke my heart because I know that no one chooses to be in that place."

Cheri introduced herself to Amber and a friendship grew. Searer, wanting to give back after she had been so blessed.

At the time of the first story, Cheri was working on a collection to help buy her friend's used Suburban; however, that has changed. Instead of the Suburban, Cheri was able to raise enough funds to put insurance on a friend's 2002 Trailblazer that was paid for and just sitting in the driveway. Cheri needs $1,000 more dollars to transfer the title into Amber's name. Cheri and a friend are paying the insurance, but would like to raise enough money to cover six months.

Two donation sites have been set up online, according to Cheri, and they include: https://www.wepay.com/donations/amber_dusendang_s_car along with www.themagigifts.com, just hit the "Donate Now" button and then scroll down.

The blessings keep on coming for Amber, thanks to Cheri and the community. During our Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011, interview, Cheri brought along a tub full of beautiful hand-knitted items from her father's friend. Cheri was recently married, and as a gift, a friend gave Cheri cash for Amber.

Amber is using this as a wonderful life lesson for her daughter, showing you should never take anything for granted.

After the baby is born, and Amber lands a job, she told Cheri that she wants to go to college part-time.
