Pacific Edge Mariner Chosen by National Workers Comp Insurer
BELLEVUE, WA - June 7 - Pacific Edge Software, the leading IT governance solution provider, today announced that Accident Fund Insurance Company of America has chosen Pacific Edge Mariner as its Project and Portfolio Management (PPM) solution to manage IT resource capacity and demand for strategic enterprise projects.
"We wanted a PPM application that would easily adapt to our deployment of best-in-class processes," said Norm Buckwalter, manager for innovation and planning at Accident Fund Insurance. "After evaluating a number of alternatives, we felt that Mariner's configurability would adapt to our established best practices and not require us to change how we do business. We expect Mariner to optimize our ability to match the right resources to the right projects, and to give us clear visibility into resource capacity and demand -- within IT and in business units across the enterprise."
Founded in 1912, Accident Fund is a leading national provider of workers compensation insurance. In 2000 the company launched a successful national expansion. Accident Fund now operates in 42 states and the District of Columbia, and in 2005 it grew again with the purchase of United Heartland, a Wisconsin-based workers compensation insurer. Growth has resulted in a commensurate rise in project volume. Pacific Edge Mariner will play a central role in managing resource demand and capacity for strategic enterprise projects, as well as for departmental projects and ongoing system enhancement and operational activities.
"We are pleased that Mr. Buckwalter and Accident Fund have chosen Mariner as the PPM software for their growing organization," said Mitch Williams, vice president of sales for Pacific Edge. "Accident Fund has clearly staked out a leading position in its use of Mariner, not only for improving IT performance, but for extending its capabilities across the enterprise to non-IT functions. We are excited by their vision."
Pacific Edge Mariner combines portfolio, project, resource, demand, and financial management into an integrated decision-support framework for an organization's IT governance initiative. As a powerful and practical-to-adopt solution, Mariner's capabilities map to an organization's specific levels of IT process maturity. As IT organizations mature, more advanced Mariner capabilities can be enabled to drive additional value from their IT governance initiatives.
